NTT DoCoMo、瑞薩、富士通、三菱電機與夏寶將共同開發W-CDMA行動電話平台
— 此廣泛平台結合單晶片 LSI，包括基頻處理器、內建OS核心軟體之應用處理器－
Tokyo, February 13, 2006 — NTT DoCoMo、瑞薩科技、富士通、三菱電機與夏寶今日宣布將共同發展範圍廣泛的行動電話平台*1，該平台將包括支援HSDPA*2/W-CDMA和GSM/GPRS/EDGE的雙模行動電話，以及如作業系統之核心軟體。此新款的行動電話平台，將幫助增加全球採用W-CDMA服務（包括FOMAR）的速度，以及降低此類手機之成本。以上公司預計將於2007年會計年度第2季（7月至9月）推出此平台。
下一代行動電話平台建立於NTT DoCoMo和瑞薩科技自2004年7月以來共同研發的單晶片LSI科技上，其結合了用於雙模W-CDMA和GSM/GPRS行動電話的基頻處理器*3以及SH-Mobile應用程式處理器*4。此共同研發的新款平台更增添了新的功能，如支援HSPDA和EDGE科技和全套發展支援，如OS、中介軟體和驅動程式。
此平台可直接建置為W-CDMA行動電話的基礎系統，進而免去行動電話製造商發展用於一般功能的分別系統，更能大幅減少發展時間和成本。在此同時，製造商也能投入更多的時間和資源來發展獨特和優質的行動電話。
瑞薩在初期將提供FOMA平台，隨後便會推出用於UMTS*5的產品。一般預期本平台在被廣為採用後，行動電話的成本將再次降低。

1. 行動電話平台：用於行動電話之基本系統，其可整合軟體和如基頻處理器之硬體。
2.HSDPA：高速下鏈封包存取。其根據3G W-CDMA資料傳輸的加強和高速版本，也被視為3.5G資料傳輸標準。今日FOMA的資料傳輸速度最高可達384 kbps，在3G規格下則可達2Mbps。然而在HSPDA問世後，理論上資料最快傳輸速度可增加至14Mbp。此外，本平台支援高達3.6Mbp的傳輸速率。
3.基頻處理器：行動電話中處理通訊功能之處理器。
4.應用程式處理器：一種處理如含有靜態影像和影片的電子郵件、音訊、視訊播放和影像電話功能等多媒體應用程式的LSI。
5.UMTS：通用行動通訊系統。3G電信系統之歐洲標準，其與IMT-2000相容，且baud rate最高為2Mbp。本文中UMTS為W-CDMA的一種。
